Shout out to my home state for cultivating great producers (see Timbaland and Pharrell)! LAKIM hails from Virginia and reworked the Badu classic in early 2013.

The warm sunshine, cool breeze and inviting energy of the crowd pervaded the atmosphere of Atlanta's Masquerade Music Park and Historic Fourth Ward Park this past Saturday, Sept. 14. Now in its fourth year, ONE Musicfest (OMF) is a relatively new entry in a long list of music festivals, but is poised to make its way from the minors to the major league.
Two stages (“Purple Rain” and “Do the Right Thing”) played home to both local and national DJs, rising artists like Joey Bada$$ and Quadron and established acts including Erykah Badu (who stepped in to perform when Amel Larrieux canceled for medical reasons), Goodie Mob (whose reunion tore the house down) and Snoop Dogg (no Lion).
As an Atlanta transplant, this was my first time at the festival. Here’s what I learned:
